Your Underarms Are Skin. We Formulated BPM That Way.
Share
Deodorant has one obvious job: control odour.
But your underarms are still skin, and we think what you put there every day should take that into account.
That’s why a big part of BPM’s formula isn’t just about fighting odour. It’s built around three ingredients we like for the way they feel on skin: fractionated coconut oil, sunflower seed oil and natural vitamin E.
Fractionated Coconut Oil: The Foundation
Fractionated coconut oil is the dominant ingredient in BPM.
You’ll see it on the ingredient list as Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, which sounds considerably more intimidating than it is. It’s a lightweight oil made from fatty acids derived from coconut oil.
Its job is partly practical: it gives BPM its smooth glide and helps the cream spread easily without feeling heavy or waxy.
But it’s also an emollient. Emollients help soften and smooth the outer layer of skin by filling the tiny spaces between dry skin cells and leaving behind a light protective film. That can also help reduce moisture loss from the skin.
In other words, it earns its place twice: better application and better skin feel.
Sunflower Oil: More Than a Carrier Oil
Our refined sunflower seed oil brings another layer to the formula.
The sunflower oil we use is naturally rich in linoleic acid, with linoleic acid making up the majority of its measured fatty-acid profile.
That matters because linoleic acid is an important fatty acid associated with the lipids that make up the skin’s natural moisture barrier.
Sunflower oil also works as an emollient, helping leave skin feeling softer and more conditioned. In a part of the body that deals with shaving, friction, sweat and daily deodorant application, we think that’s worth considering.
Vitamin E: Our Favourite Ingredient
Then there’s tocopherol, better known as vitamin E.
This might be our favourite ingredient in the whole formula.
The natural mixed tocopherol we use is thick, dark amber and almost honey-like. And we use a generous amount of it, not just enough to make “vitamin E” look good on an ingredient story. Our specification calls for a high-purity natural mixed tocopherol rather than diluted vitamin E oil or tocopheryl acetate.
Vitamin E is a lipid-soluble antioxidant. In simple terms, antioxidants help protect lipids from oxidation. That makes tocopherol useful both inside the formula, where it helps protect the oils, and as a skin-conditioning ingredient when BPM is applied.
Balance Matters
BPM isn’t trying to be an underarm moisturizer disguised as deodorant.
The conditioning oils are balanced with ingredients such as tapioca starch and kaolin that absorb excess oil and moisture, alongside magnesium hydroxide and zinc ricinoleate for odour control. The result is meant to feel smooth and conditioned, not oily.
That balance is intentional.
Serious odour control. Skin-conditioning oils. Natural vitamin E.
Because deodorant has a job to do. But the skin underneath it matters too.
